Tango

Well, not the greatest photo, but it will have to do. This weekend we had the pleasure of visiting the Argentine Embassy during PassportDC, when many Embassies hold open houses and cultural exhibits. Argentina had two lovely tango performances.

And – thought I don’t have any pictures – we also visited the Embassy of Bangladesh, getting a preview of the country where we are moving in three short weeks!! This explains my absence of late – packing and preparations has taken over our apartment and all the time I used to spend taking pictures. This might be the last post on this blog, but I’ve appreciated all your visits and comments. I’ll post an update once we’re settled in Bangladesh, and I plan to continue sharing our experiences from our new home!

The Concert Hall

Apologies for the terribly fuzzy picture – it was a six second exposure – but this gives you a (blurry) glimpse of the Concert Hall, the largest theater in the Kennedy Center. The hall seats 2,442 and the organ has 4,144 pipes.

The Grand Foyer of the Kennedy Center, with JFK bust in the center. Every day at 6:00 there is a free concert on the Millenium Stage, seen at the end of the Foyer. Each of the chandeliers above weighs one ton!

Market Square and City Hall in Old Town Alexandria. You wouldn’t know it now, but this was once the site of the second largest slave market in the US (according, of course, to ever-true wikipedia). Now it is part of a beautiful neighborhood and has a farmer’s market each Saturday. More pictures to come …
